The French Riviera is one of the most expensive places on Earth!!! There is a magical attraction for rich and famous (and alike) to show-off in the ports and cafes from St Tropez to Montecarlo. But there is a good reason for that – apart from sun and the sea this place has to offer some of the best art collections, restaurants, shops, hotels and clubbing… The Riviera might be a bit too busy and too noisy for my taste but it is definitely impressive and inspiring. The allure of this mythical stretch of Mediterranean lives on and here is my défilé in the area just a few days ago…
Let’s start with the “best of” list:
Best pool – Hotel Sezz in St. Tropez. A beautiful hotel located just outside of St. Tropez with bungalow rooms and outstanding concierge service. Probably the best hotel for hip crowd in the area.
Best people watching spot – Senequier in St. Tropez. Excellent for morning coffee or late afternoon aperitif. Try tarte Tropézienne!
Best Great Gatsby Glamour – Hotel du Cap Eden Rock, Cap d’Antibes. Old school bartenders, opulent flower arrangements, endless gardens and a few cabanas over the cliffs for movie stars. Check this Chanel Cruise collection to get the feeling of full glamour of this place.
Best Boho Glamour – Club 55, Ramatuelle. This simple beach bar and restaurant is an institution in French Riviera. Despite being world famous it did not lose its charm. The atmosphere here is relaxed and casual: don’t be fooled by the rocks that I got, I am still…
The Highlight – La Colombe d’Or, St. Paul de Vence. This nice old hotel and restaurant has the art collection that many big museums can only dream of: Picasso, Matisse, Braque, Miro, Calder, Leger, and many more, are hanging around you in this lovely old place. The interiors and food in this place are faultless.
Heaven on Earth category – La Reserve and its La Voile Restaurant, Ramatuelle
Best public architecture – Fondation Maeght in St. Paul de Vence
A masterpiece of art not to be missed – Chapelle du Rosaire de Vence by Matisse
The most impressive garden – Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild in at Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat
This is the place to be in French Riviera – St. Tropez
Best kept secret – is a house E-1027 in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin. Try to find out what the code means and the history behind it.
Thank you for visiting and good night!
